Surrey, BC - Fitness and bellies full of good nutrition make productive and successful students.  With this is mind, Sutton Premier Realty is honoured to have a special relationship with the community of students, teachers and administrators at Harold Bishop Elementary School.  Every couple of months, Broker Larry Anderson and a team from the office are invited to play sports with the students.  The latest visit was on February 20, when there were laughs and tough competition on the basketball court.

"Our office is just down the street from the elementary school and a few years ago, we sponsored a soccer tournament for 60 grade 5 and 6 students," says Larry.  Following the success of that tournament, they were invited back.

Larry recalls that in 2017, he asked the principal how his office could help the school.  The answer was sobering.  Every day, thousands of children in BC, including students at Harold Bishop Elementary, go to school hungry.  The lack of nutrition affects their physical, social and intellectual development.

As a result, Sutton Premier Realty donated more than $350 in grocery store gift cards to the school last year and $200 so far this year.  They try to accomodate requests for additional cards whenever possible.  Teachers and counsellors determine which students are currently most in need, then distribute the gift cards to their parents.

The team from Sutton Premier Realty also fundraises and makes personal donations to assist low-income families through the Surrey Christmas Bureau.  In December 2017, they contributed $4,800 to purchase toys, gifts and holiday meals bringing their total donations over the past several years to $35,000.  Last November, they issued a "Bring on the Balls" challenge to other real estate offices and their office alone delivered 260 sports balls (worth approximately $1,800) to the Surrey Christmas Bureau.
