Bring On the Balls

Surrey, BC - Each Christmas, when families in need receive baskets filled with food and gifts from various charities, young children eagerly unwrap their toys while teenage siblings are often left to watch empty-handed and disappointed.  Sutton Premier Realty challenges the entire real estate community to "bring on the balls"-specifically balls for soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball and other sports popular with teenagers.

In 2017, Sutton Premier Realty delivered 260 balls worth approximately $1,800 to the Surrey Christmas Bureau.  They are planning to donate the same amount or more this December.  To do this, REALTORS, and some clients, make personal contributions.

"It was brought to our attention that out of 4,000 kids who rely on the Surrey Christmas Bureau, 900 teenagers were left without gifts," says Sadaf Baig, Managing Broker.

"No child to should be overlooked on Christmas.  Physical activity should be a fun part of a child's life and is essential for healthy development, so we vow to bring on the balls!  Are you ready to take this challenge with us?  Do you have the balls?

Lisa Werring, Executive Director of the Surrey Christmas Bureau, saw firsthand how much people appreciated these gifts.  "Very happy about year two of Bring on the Balls.  It was very popular last Christmas, especially the soccer balls-they practically flew out of the dept, the pink ones in particular."

The team at Sutton Premier Realty is also planning to put together 30 to 40 gift baskets specifically for the teenagers.  This is an addition to their tradition of providing families with Christmas hampers.  They have raised more than $35,000 to provide food, toys and other gifts to lower income people in the past several years.  In 2018, they delivered holiday joy to 13 families including 24 children.
