Surrey, BC - Sutton Premier Realty is making its mark on the Fraser Valley and beyond.  On March 1, 2019, Broker Larry Anderson took office as the Vice President and Realtor Chris Shields became President Elect of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board.  Another agent from this office, John Barbisan, just completed term as President.

Each of them contributes significantly to their profession by donating their time and expertise.

Chris brings 14 years of real estate experience to his new role as President-Elect.  He served as a FVREB Director in 2016 and 2017 and was part of the Education Committee.  He personally helped to develop and teaches courses and new member orientation sessions.  These provide Realtors with key information-and a competitive edge.

"Our industry is a prime target for disruptors," says Chris.  "Think of taxi companies.  They know UBER is coming to the Lower Mainland.  If they do not make changes, then many consumers will consider alternatives.

"In the real estate industry, if we step up our game, our clients wouldn't even think of going somewhere else because they would be happy with the service.  We have some new courses at the Board called Professionalism Essentials.  More things like this can help to prepare us for the inevitable."

In addition to his contributions to the FVREB, Chris is very involved in his community.  For five years, he and his team fundraised thousands of dollars for the BC Cancer Foundation by participated in the annual Vancouver Underwear Affair.  They have sponsored community sports teams and sporting events and volunteered their time to other causes such as the Surrey Food Bank.

Chris is also involved in numerous office fundraisers that support local families and children in need.
